About the Project

It takes a little over 3 months to build a 3 -4 bedroom one-story home of 1,100 to 1,400 square feet. Each home is equipped with the following:

  • ADT Security System
  • Concrete driveway
  • Front porch and back porch/patio
  • Refrigerator, stove, furnace, hot water heater, full bath
  • Storm/screen door
  • Siding, trim, carpet and vinyl flooring
  • Fencing

Typical Construction Plan

The following table lists typical construction tasks by week. Construction work is subject to change due to a variety of factors. Patience and flexibility on the part of sponsor volunteers is appreciated, and helps the tasks flow smoothly.

Erect roof trusses, install roof sheathing (moderate to heavy lifting)

6 Build porches, install windows and doors
7 Rough-in heating, electrical, and plumbing
8 Install siding and gutters
9 Install insulation
10 Hang drywall
11 Sand, prep and prime drywall, install trim, finish painting
12 Finish heating, electrical and plumbing; install carpet and flooring
